Job Description:

The multimedia programmer works with the instructional designer, technical writers, and graphic artist to develop computer-based instruction directed to a technical audience. The programmer provides technical guidance regarding whether design intent is feasible within the chosen authoring tool and is responsible for a fully functional final product. and works in accordance to ISO 9001 procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Uses storyboards to program course content
• Performs program coding, testing, and debugging
• Creates functionality and interactivity in the program
• Integrates media assets into program
• Develops authoring shells
• Designs overall flow of programming, including developing flowcharts and diagrams as needed
• Refines programs to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness
• Ensures that deliverables meets customer technical requirements
• Participates in customer reviews, pilots, and other program evaluations
• Provides estimates of development time required to produce a program
• Ensures that assigned projects adhere to agreed upon timelines, budget, and contract scope
• Provides status reports to Project Manager
• Maintain awareness of industry innovations and trends and make recommendations about how the company should continue to grow capabilities
• Provides input to customer regarding design conventions when direction is not provided by customer
• Acts as a coach to new personnel

QUALIFICATIONS and/or EQUIVALENT WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in communications, art, or computer science; understanding of instructional design principles a plus
• Experience using CBT and Web authoring tools
• Experience using storyboards or scripts to program course content
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
